A lot of other programs will tell you it’s possible within
the first month. While it is possible to see some revenue in the first month,
it’s much more realistic to look at a program with longevity and realistic
timelines. Remember, overnight success is ten years in the making! There are no

My Stats & Results from income school project 24 I still can’t to this day believe that in the month of March 2019 I got a knock on the door. On opening it I was greeted by a very tired looking Jim and Ricky after they’d traveled from the USA to my home town in the UK to share their knowledge and work on one of my niche websites. I’m sure you’ve just watched the video about it, so I won’t go into too much detail. But I can tell you several months later the site www.fishkeepingforever.com has gone from strength to strength. I haven’t seen a huge spike in traffic nor any overnight success stories, but I have seen a strong growth which is around 1500 organic page views a month consistently since their visit. I only had one month where I saw a small decline and this was due to me changing hosting, server and SEO plugin. But after a couple of weeks, the traffic growth was back and continues to grow. Revenue has been a carefully planned strategy, again thanks to their advice. Our plan was to target traffic before monetizing and chasing ‘Buyer intent Keywords’. Like the famous quote says ‘Build it and they will come’ Well, it’s the same for commissions and earnings. Once the traffic started to rise above 5000 page views a month I added Ezoic Ads. We had a few issues with setting this up and using their DNS servers (which I don’t recommend), but once it was set up correctly, I started to see some nice earnings from ads. If your site is new, I would say just start with Google Ads, then as your traffic grows, switch to Ezoic. You’ll need 5000 page views a month. Once you hit that number contact them. The next stage of our monetizing strategy was to increase traffic before adding ‘Buyer Intent Keywords’ Or ‘Money Keywords’ as some people like to call them. These are keywords like, Best, Top, Review, Sale, Cheapest… and so on. These are harder to rank for keywords but will bring you more sales and affiliate clicks which equals more in commissions. This screenshot is only organic traffic. We also have around 7000 views a month from social. Total 20,000+ monthly Once we had hit 15,000 page views a month we started to add these types of articles. We instantly saw our revenue increase significantly. All as planned! As your domain age and authority grows and your traffic increases you can start to focus on revenue as we are doing now. Going after those ‘Buyer intent keywords’. As you can see from the screenshot above, traffic still increases week on week and so too does our revenue. So, what’s the plan going forward… Continue with the hit list of articles Income school and Project 24 came up with and increase traffic and add more buyer intent articles and keywords. If you follow the Project 24 Modules step-by-step, there is no reason why you can’t do the same. You’ll also save yourself a lot of time and money. How Project 24 Works income school project 24 is broken up into 12 modules to make the information easy to digest. Master one before moving onto the next. Modules include things like a 60 step guide, search analysis, email marketing, hiring writers, and much more. I’ll briefly breakdown each module below. Oh no, not another Which is best blogs! Ha Ha Well not really, this is not a conventional ‘which is best’ blog because to be honest, I don’t do conventional. However, I am going to tell you my personal opinion on the two. Ezoic vs Mediavine is a long and continuing argument within the affiliate marketing world and will continue to be so for a lot longer. However, I’m not here to tell you which is best. Well, In a way I am. I’ll explain why you could choose either Ezoic or Mediavine depending on what you’re looking for. I’m simply going to share my experience and let you figure it out yourself, whether that’s Ezoic or Mediavine. I think there’s a name for that – ‘Projecting your thoughts’ – or something. Anyway, let’s get into this. Ezoic or Mediavine? Why am I talking about it and who am I to judge? Well, I’m a customer of both for a start and secondly, I have had some experience with both for some time now with several websites, which puts me in a good position to point out the Good and Bad about both. Let’s start with the basics. https://youtu.be/wc2QoyQUQa4 How much Traffic do you Need to Sign Up for Either? Both companies have a minimum level of traffic or visitors, needed to become a partner with them. That’s because they sell advertising space on each website and it needs to be worth their while. The setup costs and time spent nursing you through the initial process has to be worth their while, Right? The traffic needed for your first site is: Ezoic: 10,000 Sessions per monthMediavine: 25,000 sessions per month Sessions are unique visitors to your site, not pageviews. Otherwise, you could get only a hand full of people who flick through dozens of pages which would look good in your pageview stats but are fewer people for either Ezoic or Mediavine to target with ads and therefore not as much potential for selling products through ad space. The traffic needed to add a second or third site is: Ezoic: 5000 sessions per monthMediavine: 10,000 sessions per month Once you have your first site set up with either Ezoic or Mediavine, it’s much easier and quicker for them to add a second, third or more sites without the need to vet or process you as a new customer. Hence, they allow you in with lower traffic. Plus, they trust the quality of your work at that point. How Long and Easy is it to Get Approved? With both companies, the process is relatively short. My experience with Ezoic has always taken around 5-10 days maximum and with Mediavine, the application process is longer around 10-14 days. This is partly because Mediavine is stricter than Ezoic and only allow really good quality sites through the process. Why? So, they can approach the bigger Blue-chip and Forbes 500 companies to sell your ad space to. Which in return commands a higher price. That’s good for them and good for you! The process is pretty painless with each application to be fair, but like-for-like, Mediavine is easier as they place all the ad sets for you once approved. You simply give them access to your Google Analytics then download a sheet from your Google Dashboard (which is very easy to get), then sign a contract. Oh, yes… Let’s mention the contracts before I forget. With Ezoic there is no contract as such; it’s simple to get out if you decide to move to another company like Mediavine or Adthrive. However, once you sign up with Mediavine, you enter into a contract and should you wish to leave or move, then you’ll need to give them enough notice to quit. Why? Because they buy your ad space in advance, so they often sell ads on your site 2-3 months in advance; promising the buyer that their adverts will be on your site for a set period of time. Do you Need to Redirect DNS with Ezoic No, now I’m glad I’m getting the chance to tell you this as many people think that because Ezoic asks you to redirect your name server to them when you first sign up, that unless you do it, they will refuse you. They will ask, trust me and they will ask again! But you can say ‘no’ and choose to place the ad sets manually (Ad sets are just the ads, how many and where). This is done through a Chrome extension plugin and is very simple to do. By not redirecting your DNS you have full control over your site: If you have any issues with your server or hosting your hosting company like Siteground, for instance, will take care of you as normal. Once you give your DNS over to Ezoic, you lose that safety net from your hosting supplier. Why do They Ask for DNS Redirection? Ezoic has a lot of apps and plugins that can help your site. They also play around with the ad sets and experiment with placements to get you the best return on your ads. Having your DNS gives them the flexibility to get the most out of your ads and allows their AI technology to learn and grow with more user experience. However, in my experience and I reiterate, it is my opinion, and not founded on any technical jargon – you don’t need to do that. They designed a plugin so why not use it? It works just fine! Which Pays More? Ezoic or Mediavine? Ah, I knew you’d get to this point sooner or later and why not. We are in it for the money, right? Let’s not be shy about these things. Again, I can only go by my experience and from what I have experienced with two sites on each. They are both in the same niche and in fact, the same sites moved from Ezoic over to Mediavine. Mediavine wins hands down! So, Mediavine wins for me on the RMP Take a look at some of MY screenshots below. Like, I say, this is my personal journey with both Ezoic and Mediavine but there’s probably many of you reading this now shouting… Ezoic is the best! If that’s the case for you, then great! You must have played around and tested Ezoic to the max to get the results you’re seeing. And that’s great! But for me I either didn’t spend enough time playing around with placements or testing enough ads. But I simply don’t have the time to do that. That’s why I love Mediavine and rank it above Ezoic on a side-by-side comparison because Mediavine does all the hard work for you and have found the perfect combination of ads and placements to see the best return from day one. Almost, you have to allow 7-10 days for Mediavine to find the right buyer for your ads. In the first few days, they will place generic ads on your site and you’ll see a small RPM (Revenue Per Thousand Visitors) until they find the right match for your niche and audience. Typically, it’s about 10 days before you suddenly see your RPM skyrocket, then you know they have found a great match for your site. Then sit back and watch the ad revenue build up each day. How Much was I Making with Each? It would be very difficult to give an exact comparison but I can give you some averages for each site, which are very accurate as they are the same sites with the same content simply moved from one to another. Below is a screenshot from one of my pet niche websites which was with Ezoic through the months of Oct-Feb – which was then moved to Mediavine mid-way through Feb 2020. As you can see from the screenshot above the average RPM was around $9-$11. Even for the month of December, which is the best month for RPM, this was still only $13. Now compare that same site with the first month with Mediavine. The same content and the same traffic. Okay, traffic has gone up slightly but that amount of traffic will not drastically affect RMP. So, it’s a fair comparison. This site was transferred on the 17th March and has only been running Mediavine ads for the past 35 days. So, let’s take the first 30 days on Mediavine. Take a look at the image below… First 30 Days with Mediavine As you can see the RMP with Mediavine is averaging around $15 and that’s the first 30 days which are the worst as the ads are not yet running or been sold at the best rates yet. Even so, you can see that some days it hit $17 which is almost double some of the days I was seeing with Ezoic. Since then, the RMP has increased and I have seen it balancing out at around $17. Then you need to take into consideration video ads, which I’ll talk about next. Add this into the RMP and I’m now seeing a whopping $21 per thousand visitors. In simple terms I’m receiving in cash terms, more than double each month going into my bank account. Do You Get Paid Straight Away? Both companies will run ads on your site for a number of months before you get paid. Ezoic is better in this respect as you get paid after two months but with Mediavine, you have to wait for three months before you receive the first deposit into your account. Which to be honest is a total pain, but, hey ho. I know the money is coming to me and I’ll just have to wait. Video Ads and Overlays Mediavine is leading the way with video ads at the moment and I can see it being a massive focus in the years to come. Ezoic is definitely being left behind at present with this as they don’t currently offer video ads through their service. However, when you read this article, they may have started to run video ads. This is an image of a video ad on one of my niche websites What are video ads? Basically, you place a video from YouTube, or one made specifically for each post or website, which they then can sell advertising space at the beginning of your ad. Very similar to native ad space, they sell your video ad space to the highest bidder. Video ads are now and will continue to fetch a handsome price for ads placed on or within your video. I was confused at first what needed to be done, but in the end, it was really easy and I can’t believe how much you get paid for a simple 30-40 second ad. As with any video, it pays to make the best video possible because in the same way that ads pay within your content, video ads pay more if the viewer plays and watches the video throughout. The longer they watch the video the more you earn. So, it’s in your interest to make a specific video for each blog post that is relevant to the topic and article. This will ensure your visitors click the video and watch it for longer. You can see the overlay highlighted here. No sound and they only pop up for 10 seconds approx. Sounds like too much work? I agree, if you don’t have a YouTube channel or lack the ability to make lots and lots of videos – then you can cheat! Well, I say cheat, it’s actually recommended by Mediavine to start earning something from video ads even if it’s not as much as you could make with specifically targeted videos. As you can see this, is a simple generic animated video ad that I placed on the home page of my website. Mediavine then placed this video where I don’t have any others throughout the website. So, if I have made a specific video for a certain post then this generic video WILL NOT be played on that page. This ensures you earn as much as possible from the specific video that you have put a lot of time, effort and money into. But, on all the other pages where I have no video, they place my animated welcome video. This means I can earn a video ad revenue from every single page on my site. How cool is that! Interesting Data Spotted! Take a look at the video I recorded above to see some interesting information and data about Google crawling your site. There seems to be an issue with how easy it is for Google to crawl a website when running Ezoic Ads compared to Mediavine. In simple terms (you can see I’m a simple man), it looks from my untrained eye that it’s much easier for Google to come to your site, find your content and rank it. It seems to spend more time on your site when running Mediavine compared to when I had Ezoic. Just watch the video and you can make your own mind up about this. Just create another sheet tab and use a format you are familiar with. Organize the sheet and use formulas and graphs to make it more appealing and easier to use. Also, your own content template can be used as a calendar. It’s easier to make your own calendar in a spreadsheet because of the grids and borders in it. Plus, if you are using the same template for your content, websites, and blogs, it will be easier for you to access your schedule related to your tasks. We also added Youtube videos that were relevant to the topic and added data, graphs, tables, and charts depending on the topic covered. In total, it took just 11 days to publish 10 articles with a total of 14,350 words – for a grand total of $300. $30 for a great article which took us around 1.45 hr per article to complete and publish. In this article, we’ll discuss why it’s important and what you can do to update old content. Click-Through Rate If you’ve been creating content for long enough, likely you utilize Google Analytics. It’s a fantastic resource for tracking all sorts of information when it comes to traffic and audience engagement on your site. We’re going to start by first taking a look at the “Search Analytics” in your Google Analytics panel. What does your click-through rate look like? It might be all over the map when it comes to various pieces of content. If you have some that appear much lower than others, that’s a pretty big sign that you need to tweak your older content to make it relevant again. First, start by analyzing key elements like your title and the description. How does your content appear in a Google search? Your title should be concise and contain keywords letting the audience know what they should expect by clicking your link. The description should provide just enough of a teaser to intrigue the reader and make them want to read more. The more concise, clear, and intriguing your short snippets and titles are, the more engagement you’ll see. Luckily, these elements are easy to change, even after content is published. The Content Itself Editing is key. Let’s repeat that for emphasis. Editing. Is. Key. Even if you are short of time, there is no excuse to have grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors in your content. When you publish content that is poorly written, this will invalidate all authority you ever had over a topic. Your audience will view you as an amateur. They will no longer trust you as a guide and resource. Think about it, when you read an article and see a glaring typo or lack of spacing, how do you feel? Probably not great. Though it’s a simple mistake, it’s also an avoidable mistake. When you’re checking your click-through rate in the previous step, open up a few links to low performing pieces of content. Scan through them and check for any obvious mistakes. Try using a tool like Grammarly. There is a free version available, which provides a ton of help when it comes to proofreading and editing. We’ll get to SEO in a minute. Understand that you can make changes. Nothing is permanent. If you think an article is particularly lacking, then rewrite and republish it. However, if there are just a few little tweaks to be made, no need to do an entire rewrite. Just make the necessary changes. Taking the time to improve your writing will pay off in the long run, especially when it comes to building an audience who trusts you. Once you’ve built that, then they’ll come back again and again for more information. Search Traffic Heading back to our Google Analytics, it’s time to take a
look at our search traffic. Take stock in which topics and articles have good
traffic versus which ones have little to none. This is where SEO comes into
play. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it is incredibly important
in driving traffic to your content. If you use WordPress, Yoast is an excellent
SEO tool that essentially gives you a checklist of things to make sure your
article is optimized. Yoast offers a free plugin but you can upgrade to their premium one and add multiple keywords For SEO, you’ll want to make sure your article has a keyword. What is the focal point of what you’re talking about? This should be reflected in your title and article description. Your article will appear in Google searches when someone searches your keyword. You can also increase your SEO by having easy to read content and inbound and outbound links. That’s just scratching the tip of the iceberg when it comes to SEO. While at face value, it may seem overwhelming learning all of this at once, remember to take it step-by-step and recognize how exciting it is that you have so many ways to improve and update your old content. Inbound and Outbound Links When digging through old content, be sure to test every link
included in your articles. You should do this every time before you publish
something as well. When it comes to older content, websites change, things get
deleted, products are taken off of the market. Have you ever read an article
about a product you were particularly excited about? You clicked the link
hoping to buy it but the product was no longer available. Avoid that
disappointment by making sure every single link you post clicks through. This is especially important when it comes to source material for factual content and affiliate marketing. Let’s say you have an entire business built around affiliate marketing, you won’t be making any money if your links aren’t clickable. Take a look at Link Whisper plugin. You’ll also need consistent and substantial traffic to be qualified as an affiliate marketer. Taking the time to update old content will give you a better chance at qualifying for affiliate marketing. Once you’re approved for affiliate marketing, maximize your income by making it easy and possible for your audience to click outbound links. An inbound link is a link that takes your audience to another article or page on your site. If you have an article that receives a ton of traffic, consider adding a few inbound links to other lower-performing articles through your content. Or add a “Did you like this post? Go check out x,y,z for more”. This will bring your reader’s attention to other content on your site. Optimizing your links is truly essential for helping people find your content and increasing your traffic. We use two plugins or pieces of software for adding internal links and another for checking that all the links within your content are still working and not broken. The first is Linkwhisper, this plugin (PAID PLUGIN) will suggest a link for all your content without having to go through every word on your page hoping to find a suitable place to insert a link. It can save you hours and set up a solid internal linking structure which is very important when Google crawls your pages. It will help with ranking positions in the SERPs results. The second one we use is called GeniusLink which will detect and report back to you if any of your links are broken. As you can see from my report today I have 5 Links to Amazon Products which are broken. Imagine, you have written an awesome piece of content, you have found traffic and people are reading you review or product guide. Then they say ‘Hey I love this product and I want it now!’ They click the link only to see a 404 error! Arrrrrrgh! All that hard work to get a sale – gone! Dated and Updated Content Let’s say, for instance, you have a blog post all about the recent fires in the Amazon. At first, it was reported that there was one massive fire covering thousands of acres. That statement was later retracted and it was announced that it was numerous tiny fires. These tiny fires were burning in order to make room for cattle to graze. If you don’t update your first article to reflect the updated news, your content becomes immediately null and void. Similarly, if your niche is in the tech or medical industries, changes are made all the time. It’s very important to fact check and keep your information relevant if you want to remain a trusted source. Let’s say you don’t want to rewrite an entire article about forest fires in the Amazon, you can utilize what’s called an editor’s note. At either the end or beginning of your article, add additional text letting your reader know what has changed. Add a date to your note along with the updated information. This will look great to your audience showing that yes, you did report on the initial information and you also took the time to followup and give them new information. Or you could use this as a chance to create a new post and utilize inbound links within your old and new articles to link them together. elements like: Headers and subheadersImages & VideosSubheadersQuotesBulleted Lists Get creative! Adding all of these things can also add a
boost to your SEO. Do you see what we did there? We broke apart the text so
your brain had to take the time to register each of these things. Not only did
you have to read the initial sentence, but then you had to take note of the
bulleted list and the call to action letting you know how you can boost your
SEO score. When adding an image, you’ll see an area for alt image
description. This feature is used for people with low visibility or who cannot
see the image at all. This also allows sneaking your keyword into the
description, which will then register with google and boost your overall SEO
score. Similarly, Google also “reads” and registers your content through your headers and subheaders. Utilizing your keyword/s in a few of your headers will give Google more information about your work. When you give Google as much information as possible, they’re able to rank your content much higher in search results. Content Promotion What tools are you utilizing to promote your content? Are you relying solely on Google search traffic? That’s not enough, especially when there is a myriad of options to promote your work. In this day and age, social media is your best friend. Even if you don’t use it personally, using it for your business is a must. Set up your Facebook page, Instagram profile, and even Pinterest account. If you utilize Pinterest, it’s recommended that you pin at least 30 pins a day. Make sure they are quality pins that correlate with your brand. Pinterest is great for linking to your blog posts. Create graphics and images for your content meant specifically for pinning. Add it to your own Pinterest profile and watch the traffic pour in. Pinterest also has a great business profile tool that will show you exactly how many times your pins have been seen re-pinned and clicked. It tracks the amount of organic traffic going to your content. Now Instagram might be the very best option. It gives you maximum audience engagement opportunities. However, it’s important to note, if you’re working to build a following don’t be spammy. What do we mean by that? Don’t just go through and like hundreds of random pictures hoping people will follow your account. This will trigger Instagram’s spam censors and your account will be blocked. It’s all about making the algorithm happy. Instead, go through and like 30 pictures at a time and comment meaningful engaging comments. Users will recognize this, especially if you’re consistent. With consistent and genuine engagement, your following will grow. Promote your content in your Instagram stories and IGTV. You should be doing everything in your power to make it easy
for your audience to find your content. You can even find subreddits that fit
your niche or business and promote your work on there. The possibilities are
endless. Reindexing updated content Once you have updated your content you’ll want to let Google know so it can crawl your site and see the changes you made. You would then hope that Google will rank your content higher thanks to all the hard work you’ve done improving it. How to re-submit your updated content for reindexing. Go to Google Search consoleClick the website that you would like to index content forClick the URL INSPECTION tab ( See image )Paste the URL for the updated post into the search bar and press enterGoogle will go fetch you post or pageThe press ‘ REQUEST INDEXING’ ( See image ) This can take a few minutes. Once do you’ll see a notice telling you it has been added to the list for re-indexing Now you have completed the reindexing process it’s just a matter of time before Google crawls your site again. This can vary from a few hours to a couple of days. Remember you can only resubmit for indexing a limited number of posts per week. We would only suggest reindexing a post once you have made significant changes to the content. If you change the URL or Permalink you’ll need to redirect the old URL to the new one then you don’t lose any traffic whilst Google crawls your updated content. After entering the URL of the post or page you would like to reindex Google Search Console will crawl your post and hopefully ping back green ticks to say it’s found it and it’s available for reindexing. Once this happens you can click the Request indexing button to tell Google that you have updated your old content and you’d like them to take another look at the post. If the updated content is good you should see some better results in Google Serps within days even hours sometimes. I have seen old content on page 2-3 of Google jump onto page 1 within hours. Conclusion: Should You Update Old Content If you implement all of the above strategies and work hard to update old content, you’re sure to see an uptick in traffic. Yes, it will take time to comb through your site, but it will be worth it. Taking the time to reindex content can drastically change your click-through rate, which in turn will increase your monetization capabilities. Take a look at the traffic screenshot below. See the spike after 30 articles around 1-year-old was updated. Two months later you can see the huge spike as many of the updated articles increased in Google Rankings. To briefly recap, start by checking your click-through rate. After that, take the time to analyze the quality of content you’re producing. Next, take a look at your search traffic and implement some SEO strategies. Make sure your content includes inbound and outbound links. Fact-check and be certain your content is up to date. Double-check that your content is broken up and captivating. Lastly, take a look at how you’re promoting your content and if it’s effective. If you break the process down into these steps, it’ll feel less overwhelming and more empowering. Remember you have the power to make these changes and to get your content out there. That’s exciting!
